Born on November 12, 1815, Stanton was an abolitionist and an early leader of the woman's rights movement. She and Lucretia Mott organized the 1848 Seneca Falls convention, the first women's rights convention in the United States. Stanton was the president of the National Woman Suffrage Association for 20 years and worked closely with Susan B. Anthony.
